Lots of highlights this year, I'm going to go over each of them briefly.
MAJOR HIGHLIGHTS
Hellcat: Born Again
Since its demo release in 2012, I basically hadn't touched Hellcat in a long time. In Easter of 2017 I released the long-planned -Born Again patch, which updated a lot of the graphics, refactored large chunks of the story, and while it's about the same length as the game which came before, it's upgrades make it feel brand new.
It's full version will likely ditch the currently implemented battle system and make use of an engine similar to the one used in PFC.
Perseverance Full Clearance
Easily the most over ambitious project I have concepted. Perseverance started out as an IGMC contest entry in mid 2014, it then became a lot more grown with its Adherence build, but Perseverance Full Clearance is the fully realized culmination of all its effort, with one of the most amazing art aesthetics and an amazingly massive scope of mechanics and levels, its execution is better than I could have ever hoped.
Project Fantasia
Never have I been more pleased with a 3/14 demo release. Fantasia, while a bit lacking in the map consistency department, keeps well to my original vision of the game. It's easily my best written work. The gameplay could use some touch ups and there could probably stand to be more of it. But slight flaws aside, it's been an absolute joy to work on, and had 3 Let's Plays on its first day of release! I woke up after being exhausted and there they were, just- two of them, bam!
Minor Highlights
The Beginnings of Crowfeast
Trust Gameplay Concept
Not even started building it in the engine yet, Trust would be Tristy Heals' Origin Story, much like Perseverance is Pep's. I wrote a document on how I intend to make it, though granted it is subject to change.
Resolve Gameplay Concept
Rolly's Origin Story, nothing much of it yet, but I've made a few reveals, mostly that it's going to play similarly to a classic beat-em-up, and the gimmick is that the hero Rolly, is immune to attacks from the front, also Rolling will be a big part of gameplay, as may be expected.
Animations Enhancement and awesome VA additions.
Phoenix Sylph, the enthusiastic voice actor for both Yi Hellrider and Lilac Grave, brings Miss Grave and her deep-rooted nihilism to life in this beautiful animated short.
Since Fantasia's idea a lot of people have shown major interest in helping out. Some characters have been so well received they'd gotten Fanart and full blown appraisals by fans before the game even had a release. I've had three new voice actors put their soul into this game and it's characters, Kate Holden is also back as the voice of Esperia, and Adoxographist is back as the voice of Fyori Felicee.
Shout-outs!
I'll start with people not directly in the company, but who made our days and lives just that bit more dang awesome.
Therrao
He sorta disappeared from everywhere, but Therrao has been a great fun guy, and he did an amazing Lumi Fuzz Fan art.
Driftwood Gaming
I mean the person, not the channel, so Drifty- he did a very positive First Impression video on Perseverance Full Clearance, and opened up a world of opportunity, as well as giving PFC a lot of publicity!
Driftwood Gaming Lounge
This time I refer to the actual discord channel, I've had a very positive experience there, and while I act to them like I only tolerate them, they genuinely have been a very positive impact on my life and me as a game-dev. In particular, NeoSoulGamer, Nozomu, Crabs, Nandee, A fella we call Dope, Yukimkun and Nikorasu.
Starmage
A bundle of joy and enthusiasm, I knew Starmage from HBgames, but never really talked fella to fella with him, he's an awesome fella who turns frowns upside down. He's also doing a playthrough of PFC and vividly enjoying it.
The Lackacord
While I have recently left, vowing to not return, I had enjoyed my stay there. Through it I met Aslan's Joy, who is the voice actor for both Koko and Lumi.
NoxKitsune
A standout fella I met on the Lackacord, he seems to be one of the few from the channel who understand somewhat how I work. He's been a positive voice and ambassador for the CCC and its projects.
Roisvold
I'm not sure how this fella even located me, but he added me on Discord and we've been good friends since, and he's helped me a lot recently with honing my art. He is genuinely a pleasant fella to talk to and an amazing tutor. If you weren't included and feel you should be, let me know! Chances are there are some amazing people I forgot, it's been one heck of a year, and I've made lots of new friends!
Collective Member shoutouts!
These can apply even if you aren't in the Crazy Chimp Collective Chat but have done work for us.
Phoenix Sylph
An awesome fella I met in the driftwood lounge, she's a capable arty sort who was gunning for a chance to voice act, I gladly brought her aboard and she's now the official voice actor for both Lilac Grave and the psychotic Yi Hellrider. She also introduced me to Kitty, who does the voice for Sacreblu.
KittyHiPur
The voice of Sacreblu, easy to work with, though a mite intimidating! Kitty's quality in VA is exceptional.
Aslan's Joy
We met on the Lackacord, she seemed impressed with what work I was doing on Fantasia, and offered her aid, I asked if she'd be down from voice acting, and we went from there. She delivers quality content and heartfelt emotion in her lines. She's the voice actor for both Lumi Fuzz and Koko Spiral.
RiseEvil Demos
One of
our most enthusiastic fans and fan-artists, he has done a fair share of
fan art and also gotten rather invested in our lore, he definitely
deserves some love!
Xiie
Despite numerous hang-ups, nuances and difficulties regarding staying in a house, having stable internet, and typhoons, storms-- the lot. Xiie managed to make all of the sprites for Fantasia that were needed and all of the portraits for PFC. She continually earns and keeps her place among the elite.
Pjcr
He signed up to do the portrait work in Fantasia, a behemothian job, but despite floods, typhoons, falling down some stairs, and some hospital time. Pjcr managed, with the help of his partner, to get done the work he had taken on in time for the demo's release. He also helped significantly with both marketing and spritework in regards to PFC.
Jake "MoneyMenace" Gamelin
After having developed an 80 Song OST for Intelligence, and a 48 Song OST for Menagerie: Remastered, you'd think Jake would have had enough. But lo and behold, eager to work again, he composed the 60 song Soundtrack for PFC, making the game both unique and memorable. As if that weren't enough, he also began work on the OST for Crowfeast, and recently has been doing different music experiments using leitmotifs and themes from the games and characters he's composed for. He also in celebration of 314, has made a distinguished chant utilizing the Leitmotif of Corporation XVI.
Max M. Dominora
After his debut doing two of the intense songs for Esperia's bossfight in Perseverance Full Clearance, Max M. Dominora was given a soundtrack of his own to compose, and was done well before deadline despite both college and work. Creating easily one of the most memorable scores in CCC history.
Shane "Apoc" Waite
One of the emergency lifelines I fall back on when I need stuff of quality made fast and to a degree of quality, Apoc helped with several area designs in PFC, along with a lot of Sprite alterations.FAN ART!
